Dacoity in Mangaldai Town

A three member gang of dacoits attacked and looted an established businessman of Mangaldai in broad daylight yesterday. According to reports, the businessman Mrinal Sorkar was attacked by an unidentified miscreants when he stepped out of his house with 2 lakhs in cash with him for the weekly business deals; all his money was looted thereafter. The health condition of the victim is reported to be stable as of now. It is also significant to note that a gun has also been recovered from the spot of incident. No arrest has been reported till now.
 Mangaldai Beats condemns the cowardly attack of miscreants on Mrinal Sarkar and appeals the police & administration of Darrang to arrest the culprits as soon as possible.

Health condition of Lalit Chandra Nath Ojah improves

Renowned folk artist, Darrang icon, Sangeet-Natak Academy and Rabindra Nath Tagore Ratna awardee Lalit Chandra Nath Ojah has been undergoing treatment in Nemcare hospital in Guwahati since Thursday. As of now, his health condition has improved considerably. It is worth mentioning that he has been practicing the "Suknaani Ojapali" and "Deodhani Nrityo" since the early age of 12 and has been instrumental in popularizing this Darrangi form of heritage all around the globe

The Mangaldai Beats Chronicle : Art Workshop

July 3, 2012 will always be remembered. It was the very day when Mangaldai beats took its first step forward. After a week of hard work by the members, the scheduled art workshop was finally organized. Mangaldai Town Nagar Balak school served as the venue of the workshop. The art workshop received unconditional support from Mangaldai and around 100 students took part in it.

The art workshop was headed by Apuraj Baruah, one of the finest painter of India with numerous world records under his belt and was amply supported by Purabi Saikia, member of Mangaldai beats. The art workshop emphasized on the basics and also covered various aspects of drawing techniques and continued for around two hours.

The workshop, which was first of its kind in Mangaldai attracted praise and goodwill of many. Take the case of one of the attending parents who was there throughout the session, who commented "I express heartfelt thanks to Mangaldai Beats for arranging such a informative workshop session. Now I am expecting more such events in the future."

National Level Art Competition in Mangaldai

The Darrang district unit of Indian council of children welfare (ICCW) will organize an art competition on June 16 in Mangaldai Town Girls school. The competition which will be divided in 5 categories on the basis of age groups ranging from 5 to 18 years will begin by 10.30 am. All  interested participants can collect the participation forms which is available at all leading educational institutes and art schools of the district.
 

The main motive of organizing such competition as per the organizational committee is to promote creative talents of the town so that they can get recognized at the national level. At least five participants will be selected from the competition to participate in the national level. A spot quiz is also organized for the parents of all participants.

Five Teachers suspended in Darrang

Darrang district deputy commissioner Sohrab Ali, through a press conference announced the suspension of 5 teachers on various grounds.

Jatin Chandra Barua & Sunanda Kumar Nath of Rajghat Higher secondary school and Tarund Deka & Pranab Kumar Deka of Nagarbaahi Madrassa have been suspended due to negligence of duty. On the other hand Tarini Deka of Nagar Balak school has been suspended for physically assaulting a student.
